John 8:51-53

I.  THE DEFAMATIONS OF THE DARK
    Several defamations were hurled at Jesus in an attempt to destroy His name.

    1.  He Bore False Witness--8:13 (accused Him, of being a liar)
    2.  His Birth Illegitimate--8:19, 25, 41 (questioned His divine origin, identity)
    3.  He Was Demon Possessed--8:48, 52 (accused Him of having a demon)
    4.  He Was Inferior To The Prophets--8:53 (the pharisees defamed Jesus by placing
         Him beneath Abraham and the prophets)  Consider 3 biblical truths which refute this defamation...

         A.  Jesus:  Ultimate Prophet--Deuteronomy 18:15, 18, Matthew 17:2-3, Matthew 12:41-42, John 8:56

         B.  All Other Prophets Were Dead--John 8:53, Genesis 25:8, Deuteronomy 34:5-7

         C.  Jesus Is The Conqueror of Death--John 8:51-52, John 6:47

              1.  Jesus Defeated Death--II Timothy 1:10, I Corinthians 15:3-4, Isaiah 25:8, I Corinthians 15:26, 55, 57
               
              2.  Jesus Is Alive Today--Revelation 1:18, Romans 6:9, John 14:2-3, 19

In their vain attempt to defame Jesus, the pharisee's revealed their blindness
Their "heroes" were mere mortal men, and were dead!
But Jesus,"The Light of the World" was greater than Abraham and the prophets...
JESUS conquered death...He is alive today...and provides victory over death!
