Sermon Notes

John 8:48-52

I.  THE DEFAMATION OF THE DARK
Several defamations were hurled at Jesus in an attempt to destroy His ministry

  1.  He Bore False Witness--John 8:13 (they accused Him of being a liar)
  2.  His Birth Was Illegitimate--John 8:19, 25, 41 (the pharisees defamed Jesus by questioning His divine origin and identity)

  3.  He Was Demon Possessed--John 8:48, 52
The pharisees called Jesus a Samaritan with a demon living inside Him!

       A.  Jesus denied this ludicrous defamation--v49, John 8:29, Colossians 2:9, Luke 4:1

       B.  Jesus declared superiority over Satan--John 14:30, 1 John 4:4, Ephesians 1:20-21

       C.  Jesus demonstrated power over demons--v48, Mark 3:11, Luke 4:36, 41, James 2:19

       D.  Jesus did the works of the Father--John 5:36, John 10:25, John 10:21, Acts 10:38

       E.  Jesus Defeated The devil--Genesis 3:15, 1 John 3:8, Hebrews 2:14, John 12:31

JESUS was not demon-possessed....He is the Divine Son of God
JESUS declared His power over Satan and demonstrated it during His earthly ministry
JESUS defeated Satan and his forces....The Devil is a defeated foe!!
One day soon, the Devil will meet his fate at the Hands of JESUS CHRIST!!
